Panama Elida Estate Catuai – Natural
Panama Elida Estate Catuai – Natural – Boquete
Good for you if: you want a classic high‑elevation Panama that is juicy and fruit‑forward but more approachable than Geisha – clean enough for daily filter, exciting enough for modern espresso.
Elida Estate sits in Boquete, Chiriquí, on the slopes of Volcán Barú and has been run by the Lamastus family for generations, famous for producing some of Panama’s most awarded coffees. This Catuai comes from high plots around 1,670–2,000 MASL and is dried as a full natural, letting slow in‑cherry fermentation and sun‑drying build dense fruit, high sweetness, and a long, winey finish.
In the cup, expect cherry and ripe stonefruit (apricot, nectarine), layers of tropical fruit like pineapple or mango, and a fruit‑tea structure with syrupy sweetness and sparkling but balanced acidity. As filter it shows a juicy, clean, fruit‑driven profile; as espresso it leans dessert‑like, with red fruit candy, tropical notes, and a gentle cocoa or tea‑like aftertaste.
